REGENERATIVE FARMLAND AND COMMUNITY – New meixco
“ If I can help even one child to remember who they are by connecting to The Creator through nature and stewardship of the land, it will be worth it. This is the legacy that I want to pass on to the children and generations to come.” Mahara for Gan Eden
This project is situated in the cold semi-arid climate of Ribera, New Mexico, encompassing approximately 33 fertile acres of ancient floodplain. The property is uniquely bordered by water: the scenic Pecos River to the southwest and a co-managed acequia to the northeast. The land supports lush green pastures where horses graze, hay is cultivated.
Comfortable adobe and strawbale houses are already established on site, providing long-term housing, including for the owner, Mahara. Her vision is to use this land as both a place of learning and a sustainable source of food, while also hosting visitors in eco-friendly yomes and organizing workshops and events as key revenue streams. The project aims to welcome families for extended stays—potentially through land purchase—as well as short-term visitors, creating educational and productive features that can be replicated in their own homes.
Finally, in order to strengthen the social bond and foster solidarity, Mahara offers the space for local community initiatives, such as hosting a farmer’s market.
